Blyth Links Inaugural Parkrun

This Easter weekend saw the inaugural Blyth Links parkrun a 5km 2½ lap circuit of the sea front starting near the Coastline Café and ending at the multi coloured beach huts on the promenade. An impressive field of 342 runners included Alderson Law Partner Graham Shannon and his secretary Dawn Elsender; Dawn clocking up her 7th parkrun and knocking 2 minutes off her PB and Graham his 135th and moving further away from his! Lynn Butler from our Whitley Bay Office, also a keen parkrunner, has been involved since last July with the core team creating the event. This involved raising funds, planning a route and securing permission as well as marshalling on the day, and encouraging runners around in the unseasonal heat.

Graham says ‘It was both a fantastic event and location. The circuit is flat by the standard of most parkruns and has high PB potential for all you runners. Add into that the refreshments on offer at the Coastline Café, plenty of free parking and Blyth hospitality and you have all the ingredients for what will hopefully be a successful event. These events don’t happen by accident and I’d like to pass on a huge thank you to the organisers and volunteers for the hard work in making it possible. We are very proud of Lynn’s involvement.’

When not out running, Graham specialises in employment law offering our business clients and employees practical and realistic advice in all areas of employment law from recruitment to dismissal and beyond.
